Philmont Journal: Day 2

Day 2: June 11, 2012

After getting up early this morning and packing, we got back into our tin cans of death and continued on our way. The terrain flattened out when we entered Oklahoma, probably because the people of Arkansas got to the flat part and said, "We've got all of the good stuff. Let someone else have this crap." The trip become considerably more boring after crossing the State Line. I look left and right and can see the earth curve.

Philmont Journal: Day 1

Day 1: June 10, 2012

Hope is fading quickly as we travel farther west. We crossed the Mississippi River today signifying that we were truly into the unruly and uncivilized western portion of this Great Country. We haven't yet encountered any duels between cowboys and Indians, but that is only a matter of time.

Philmont Journal Preface

The next several blog posts will be slightly edited versions of a journal that I kept while hiking at Philmont Scout Ranch. Again, I realize that very few people actually care about my life, so I tried my best to keep it lighthearted and funny whenever possible. Enjoy.

Philmont Journal: Introduction

This is the introduction to the journal that I kept while going camping at Philmont during summer vacation in 2012. The trip was fantastic, and I tried to infuse my journal with the essence of Philmont and hiking while simultaneously keeping it lighthearted and funny. Enjoy!
